Not long ago, the General Board called on all expressions of the Disciples of Christ to improve communications—to become more active and effective at telling the stories of what God is doing in and through us. As one response, Christian Board of Publication collaborated with a key supplier to create Disciples Notes, an entirely new way of communicating across Disciples congregations.
Through Disciples Notes bulletin inserts, congregations share their stories of success, hope, teamwork, and inspiration. Each insert brings a brief story about real people doing real ministries that transform lives. The story appears on one side, with a photograph on the other. The inserts also may go in congregational newsletters, on bulletin boards, or other key communication channels. The idea is to communicate as widely as possible the ministries that Disciples do locally, regionally and globally—and to invite others to join in.
"Disciples Notes offers Disciples congregations a look at what other congregations are doing and how they're doing it," said Russ White, president and publisher of Christian Board of Publication. "It's an excellent way of claiming a sense of community between all Disciples, encouraging transformative action, and celebrating what God has called us to be and to do."
"Disciples Notes grew out of our existing bulletin service with CBP," Sam Stover of MWM Dexter stated. "Disciples Notes combines CBP's publishing and editorial expertise with our printing experience to bring to the Disciples a unique way of sharing the many wonderful things happening in other Disciples' congregations."
Disciples Notes are available on a quarterly subscription basis, with a minimum order of only 50 inserts per week.
Does your congregation have a story to tell? Share it with us at DisciplesNotes@cbp21.com! Each story should be about 350 words. If possible, send a hi-resolution digital photograph that illustrates the story. There is no charge for congregations to submit stories to Disciples Notes.

CBP develops resources to support congregations that invite people into deeper relationship with God, equip them as disciples of Jesus Christ, and send them into ministries as the Holy Spirit calls them. CBP is supported primarily by sales of products and services offered. Although recognized as a General Ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), CBP does not receive a subsidy from the Disciples Mission Fund.
