Moving the Cimate Protection Act conversation along

The impact of global climate change is already being felt and some in Congress want to act to curb U.S. emissions. However, action on Senate Bill 3036, Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act of 2008, has been stalled.

If you wish for the Senate to take action on SB 3036, a critical vote is scheduled for Friday morning (June 6) calling for cloture on Senate Bill 3036 -- a vote that will end the stalling and allow the Senate to proceed with its vote on this legislation.

Calling your Senator

  1. Call the Capitol switchboard at 1-888-784-0527
  2. Ask to speak to your Senator.
  3. Tell the aide who answers the phone that you want an open and honest debate on America's Climate Security Act. Ask your Senator to vote yes on cloture for senate bill 3036 -- a vote that will end the stalling and allow the Senate to proceed with its vote on this legislation.
  4. Call 1-888-784-0527 again and ask to speak to your other Senator and leave the same message with that office

To find out who your Senator is, visit www.senate.gov/.

You can read SB 3036 online through www.Thomas.gov.

You can read media coverage on the legislation, Carbon Cuts? How Costly? at the Christian Science Monitor, and from the New York Times, Senate Opens Debate on Politically Risky Bill Addressing Global Warming.

Thank you for your willingness to take action.
