Adonna Bowman was born in Los Angeles, where she resided
until her call to the executive director of the Office of
Disciples Women position in April of 2003. Her career included
15 years with Mattel Toys as director of Sales Administration
and Customer Service, vice president of a human resources
consulting firm and director of Administration and Human Resources
for Corinthian Marketing.
Adonna is a cradle Disciple and, until her move to Indiana,
was a life-long member of Westchester Christian Church in
Los Angeles where she served as an Elder and Chair of Fellowship
and Christian Education. She now has a new church family at
Allisonville Christian Church, Indianapolis.
Prior to relocating to Indianapolis, Adonna served the Pacific
Southwest Regional Women's Commission as communications director;
served on the planning committee to create a Women's Action
Web experience, chaired two Spiritual Growth Retreats for
women, served on the Board of Directors for the NBA California
Christian Home and was a member of the PSWR Anti-Racism /
Pro-Reconciliation team.
She graduated in May of 2003 from the two year Pacific School
of Religion Certificate of Ministry Studies Program administered
by the Disciples Seminary Foundation, Claremont, Calif.
Adonna is the mother of three grown children, Melanie, Robert
and Bethanie and grandmother to four grandsons. Her hobbies
and passions include reading, traveling and singing.
