Disciples Women visit Bosnia and Croatia
-
A total of 17 women, representing 15 regions, will be gathering in Detroit, Mich., October 16th for an orientation before boarding their flight the evening of October 17th to Zagreb, Croatia.
- Leaders will be Amy Gopp, Week of Compassion, and Adonna Bowman, Office of Disciples Women.
- The group will spend 13 days traveling throughout Croatia and Bosnia and will visit multiple sites reflecting women's efforts to rebuild following the Civil War in Bosnia. They will also visit hospitals, orphanages, schools and churches.
- Everyone attending will be joining in a service project prior to the journey. This project will involve collecting donations to help fund the start-up and on-going operating costs for a milk producing plant begun by the Bosnian Association of Women in Grahovo to help them support their families as they rebuild their community. If you wish to donate to this project, please e-mail odw@dhm.disciples.org for more information.
- Following their flight home on October 30th, the women will be involved in writing the stories of their experience to share with churches and regional events across the country in 2008 and 2009.
