Being a Child Advocate means speaking up for children and their families.

Children are the most vulnerable persons in any society. By law they cannot speak for themselves. Speaking on behalf of children means taking actions that go to the source of problems that are affecting the lives of children. Someone once described the difference between ministering to children and advocating for children with this story . . . One day someone noticed small children floating in a river that flowed past her village. She called for help and people quickly organized to pull the children from the river and provide for them. This rescue operation soon became an extensive and on-going ministry to children. After a while one person left the ministry efforts and when asked why, said, "I'm going up-river to find out who is throwing all of these children in the river." The person going up-river to work on the source of the problem was doing advocacy work.
