Disciples Youth

Expectations for General Youth Council Members

*All General Youth Council members are to attend all meetings.*

One winter meeting will be held each year, generally in January.

• These meetings last approximately three to four days.
• Travel days are on the first and last dates of meetings.
• All expenses incurred due to these meetings will be paid by Disciples Home Missions.

All General Youth Council members are to attend and participate in the General Assembly.

• Members are requested to arrive in time to have two (2) full working days before the Assembly and to remain through the entire Assembly (unless otherwise negotiated).
• All General Youth Council members are expected to participate in activities sponsored by Disciples Home Missions and the General Youth Council.
• All General Youth Council members are responsible for their own personal expenses during the General Assembly. Travel and room are currently paid by Disciples Home Missions.

All General Youth Council members are expected to attend and participate in the Youth Ministry Event (YME) and/or International Christian Youth Fellowship Conference (ICYF) and/or the General Assembly Youth Events according to the general youth event cycle during their term of office.

• General Youth Council members are to arrive in time to have two (2) full working days before the beginning date of each event, plus one (1) additional day for evaluation after the event.
• All expenses incurred (except for personal items) will be covered by Disciples Home Missions with exceptions noted above for General Assembly.

All General Youth Council members are to promote and interpret the Disciples youth events and the Youth Empowerment Fund program as opportunities arise through the following:

• Local church, regional, and constituency events.
• Communication with the Youth Ministry Office for instruction and resource materials.

 To the extent possible, members of the General Youth Council are to extend staff representation in awareness and support of Youth Ministry across the whole church.

All General Youth Council members will keep open and regular communications with the Youth Ministry Office of Disciples Home Missions.

It is expected that General Youth Council members will not consume alcoholic beverages or illegal-controlled substances when at General Youth Council sponsored events or together as a General Youth Council.
