In extending the invitation to "Get Dirty for Jesus," Disciples Volunteering aims to connect Disciples with a variety of Mission Opportunities for using the gifts God has given each one in service with our neighbor.

Mission Centers are Disciples ministries that reach out in service with their community. Their ministries are as diverse as the communities with which they serve: in Appalachia; on the border in south Texas; in central Kansas; in rural Washington; and in urban Louisville, San Antonio, and Los Angeles. They offer a variety of programs throughout the year and often seek assistance with building projects. The service of mission teams with these centers is typically part labor, part educational, and part relationship building. It is all led by a faithful response to God’s call to serve.

Following the devastating hurricanes of 2005, Disciples deepened their involvement in communities affected by large-scale disasters. Disciples Volunteering is equipped to help congregations serve their own communities following a disaster. Where appropriate, partnerships with local congregations, Week of Compassion and the Region/Area impacted may lead to the establishment of a Mission Station.

Disciples Volunteering partners to coordinate special projects throughout the year. These projects typically focus on one large goal, for example, the rebuilding of a home or homes following a disaster. These projects generally run for 4-5 weeks in the spring, 10 weeks in the summer, and 2-4 weeks each fall. Nearly 75 Disciples are spending an Alternative Spring Break in Tuscaloosa, AL, as we partner locally to build several new homes for families whose homes were destroyed in last April's devastating tornado. This summer, Disciples Volunteering strongly urges you to share in the wonderful Missions of our Mission Centers, spend a week at a Disaster Response Mission Station, or participate in the F.A.S.T. program.
This summer, Disciples Volunteering is once again partnering with the UCC Office of Volunteer Ministries to offer the F.A.S.T. program. Faithful Advocates Serving Together is a cooperative effort to offer Mission Trip opportunities in Appalachia. For the second year in a row, F.A.S.T. is partnering with the Morgan Scott Project in Deer Lodge, TN.

Disciples are engaging in mission around the country and close to home. Disciples Volunteering is working to establish a page with links to Regional Mission and Service Opportunities. If you know of something that can be added here, please let us know!
Disciples Volunteering partners with General Ministries to support Mission at Disciples events. This is where we will post information for Mission at the next General Assembly or other upcoming events.
