Yakama Blitz Build: Rebuilding homes destroyed by fire and storm

In February, a massive wildfire and windstorm swept through Yakama, WA and the surrounding area. More than 20 homes were destroyed in the fires; countless more suffered extensive damage due to the high winds which fanned the flames. Now, the Yakama Nation has made a special request for assistance and they have tapped David Bell, Director of Yakama Christian Mission, to coordinate the rebuilding. Disaster Response Mission - Year Round

Mission Stations are open year round enabling volunteers to serve in communities affected by disaster. Currently, Mission Stations are open for the fall in Tuscaloosa, AL, Nashville, TN, and Lake Charles and Slidell, LA. Mission Opportunities will be available in Missouri in response to the devastation that has been wrought by this spring's tornadoes. We are working now to overcome a few bumps on the path to establishing a Long Term Response in Joplin; in the meantime, the Lake Ozarks Area office continues to point folks interested in short-term service to local possibilities.
