1 Thessalonians 5:18 “give thanks in all circumstances: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (NRSV)
Have you ever been told to adjust your attitude? Attitude is your thoughts and emotions concerning a particular situation or person. Being thankful or giving thanks is a lot like your attitude. It is the way that you react towards life and the things that occur during your journey here on earth. We need to adjust the way that we look at life. It does not matter where you currently are, your situation does not determine your destination. God wants us to remember to give thanks to Him for everything, the good, the bad and the ugly. A simple thank you Lord can shift your atmosphere from not knowing what to do next to putting all your trust in God and allowing Him to direct your path. As you continue through this holiday season remember to give God thanks in all things.
Gracious and loving God who sits high above
We come to you with thanksgiving and a whole lot of love
Filled with gladness in the midst of the storm
Knowing that you are with me makes me feel cozy and warm
Just as if I was a child safe in my parents’ care
Not worrying about tomorrow because I know all my burdens God will bear
Lifting up my eyes to the Lord and He will help me to see
Thanking God in the good and the bad times understanding He will never leave me
So, in this season I will continue to smile as I give you all the praise
As I sing, dance, and rejoice all of my days
Smiling because you are the best thing that has happened in my life
Despite all of the misery and strife.
God, I humbly come to you with a grateful heart
Counting my blessing from the very start
Recognizing that I have been set free
From all the things that tries to make me flee
God I will stand firm on your word and will not bend
It is in Jesus name I pray and say amen.
