Rachel Larratt began her work in the field of disaster recovery when her own home and neighborhood became inundated with 24 feet of water. From there she helped organize her local community in order to respond to their immediate needs and started a grass roots organization in order to advocate for those who couldn’t do so for themselves. Rachel went on to become the LTRG chair for the Midlands Flood Recovery Group of South Carolina. She served as a member of the Richland County Blue Ribbon Flood Recovery Advisory Committee and the Director of the SBGC Community Relief Foundation. With the vital importance of long-term disaster recovery, she believes wholeheartedly in the mission of the Disaster Recovery Support Initiative, a joint effort between the disaster ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the United Church of Christ, and the Church of the Brethren.
