Job Title: Director, Children Worship Wonder & Welcome
Reports to: President and CEO
Hours: Full-time Position
Starting Date: March 3, 2025 (Negotiable)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director has primary responsibility for overseeing the implementation and coordination of all programmatic elements of DHM’s Children Worship Wonder & Welcome Program. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for working to transform and expand the existing program, in collaboration with the President and CEO.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In consultation with the President and CEO, design and implement the program in accordance with the proposed transformation and expansion of the Children Worship Wonder & Welcome plan and adjust as necessary.
- Work with a planning and implementation team to produce, curate, and distribute resources and materials in support of the program.
- Work with other DHM staff to coordinate training design and implementation, in accordance with the proposed strategy and goals.
- Attend meetings, gatherings, and conferences as required by the program and when requested to do so by DHM leadership.
- Oversee budgeting and accurate accounting in compliance with funding requirements.
- Work with congregations, theological institutions, regions, camps, and others to carry out specific aspects of the program in partnership with identified partners.
- Be an integrated part of the DHM staff and collaborate with other areas within DHM to ensure cohesive and comprehensive functioning as a general ministry.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- A passion for working with congregations, pastors, and lay leaders.
- Strong written and oral presentation skills.
- Critical skills in training and group facilitation.
- Detail-oriented, skilled at managing multiple priorities, with attention to deadlines.
- Self-starter and the ability to work unsupervised.
- Strong computer and internet skills; proficiency with MS Office, Teams, and other workplace productivity software.
- Enthusiasm and willingness to learn and implement new things.
- Flexibility and effective time management while maintaining superior work quality.
- Experience and skills in producing informative and compelling reports.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Master of Divinity, or MA in a religion, education, or comparable field preferred.
- Ten or more years of program management experience.
- Significant experience with and knowledge of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
- Experience with or significant familiarity with Disciples Children Worship & Wonder or other similar storytelling-based curriculum for working with children.
- Significant experience managing budgets and expense management processes.
- Understanding of working with external funders and ensuring compliance
- Experience working with networks and/or partnerships in a regional or national setting.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Occasional responsibility for directing the work of coordinators, administrative assistants and contract staff.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This position is deployed with the ability to work remotely.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The physical demands require occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
TRAVEL REQUIRED:
- This position requires up to 25% travel.
