Job Title: Associate Director for Development and Mission Resourcing
Reports to: President and CEO
Hours: Three Quarters (¾) Time Position
Starting Date: January 6, 2025
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate Director for Development and Mission Resourcing has primary responsibility for working with the President and CEO to coordinate DHM’s work in the areas of philanthropic development and implementing strategies for securing resources for mission. Along with other areas of DHM, the position also has collaborative responsibility for coordinating DHM’s engagement with the wider church in supporting congregations engaged in local missions, outreach and volunteering.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In consultation with the President and CEO, develop and carry out strategies for increasing philanthropic giving through individual donations, and organizational gifts, and grants.
- Research and help identify funding sources for the mission and ministry of DHM; support DHM leadership in carrying out fundraising campaigns, activities, and events.
- Oversee DHM’s use of technology systems to ensure efficient and effective relationship management of constituents; provide appropriate processes for donor appeals and appreciation; collect and analyze fundraising data; and maintain positive constituent experiences with DHM across its various ministry programs.
- Work with DHM leadership, communications staff, and other DHM staff to ensure seamless ways for individuals, congregations, and ministry partners to access DHM services and programs that support local missions, outreach, and volunteering.
- Work with the DHM Leadership and other staff to encourage, expand, and support networking and peer-to-peer learning amongst congregations, regions, and other ministry partners around local missions & outreach.
- Help support the development and sustaining of innovative approaches to mission resourcing for DHM and the congregations DHM serves.
- Represent DHM in various settings and at designated events, as determined in consultation with the President and CEO.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong written and oral presentation skills.
- Detail-oriented, skilled at managing multiple priorities, with attention to deadlines
- Self-starter and the ability to work unsupervised.
- A passion for working with regions, congregations, lay leaders, pastors, and ministry partners.
- Strong computer and internet skills; proficiency with MS Office, Teams, and other workplace productivity software.
- Enthusiasm and willingness to learn new things.
- Flexibility and effective time management, while maintaining superior work quality.
- Experience and Skills in producing informative and compelling reports.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Master of Divinity or equivalent degree preferred.
- Five to seven years of fundraising and grant writing experience.
- Significant experience engaging local congregations and individuals to build and strengthen relationships.
- Notable understanding of fundraising techniques and practices for increasing philanthropic giving.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- No direct ongoing supervisory responsibility.
- Occasional responsibility for directing the work of admin. assistants and contract staff.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This position is deployed with the ability to work remotely.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The physical demands require occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
TRAVEL REQUIRED:
- Some travel may be required for this position, for assemblies, conferences, and other events deemed necessary by DHM Leadership.
