The Association of Disciples Scouts and Scouters (ADSS)

The Association of Disciples Scouts and Scouters (ADSS) is an organization that cooperates with both Disciples Home Missions (DHM) and national youth serving agencies such as Scouts-BSA, Girl Scouts USA, Campfire USA, and P.R.A.Y. (Programs of Religious Activities for Youth).

The Association has four key objectives:

  1. to encourage Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) congregations to make use of national agencies in their ministry with youth, thereby extending their programs of leadership training and community outreach.
  2. to promote the God and Country Program from P.R.A.Y. as a Christian Education resource for youth.
  3. to recognize outstanding adult leadership through the God and Service Award.
  4. to provide local churches with trained youth leaders.

We believe that the congregation’s ministries with children and youth can be enhanced through partnerships with youth serving agencies. These agencies emphasize the development of positive moral values as well as social responsibility through a variety of activities including a strong focus on service.

Membership in the Association will provide a network of support for Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) leaders in the national youth serving agencies. Membership is open to all interested adults 18 years of age and older. It is not necessary for adults to be registered Scout leaders in order to join the ADSS. It is preferable, however, that ADSS members be active members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Apply for ADSS membership.
