DHM Board Announces Leadership Change

April 18, 2020

After much prayer and discernment, the Disciples Home Missions Board of Directors has unanimously agreed to accept the resignation of Rev. Sotello V. Long.  We are grateful to Rev. Long for his service and ministry as DHM President and wish him the best in his future ministry.

We are very happy that DHM’s Rev. Sheila Spencer has begun serving as Acting President as we begin the search for an Interim President.  Rev. Spencer has twelve years of experience at DHM leading programs with Disciples Women and as the Director of Christian Education. She has been working closely with the staff and our ministry partners as we navigate this transition and DHM’s ministry during the pandemic. The Executive Committee has begun the process for identifying an Interim President and the Board will be providing updates as soon as we can.

The Board of Directors has confidence in our entire DHM staff’s ability to minister and focus on our mission during this time.  We are committed to providing them all the support and resources they need to successfully serve our Church. I, as the Chairperson of the Board, and other board members have begun reaching out to our ministry partners to make them aware of this transition and assure them we are committed to strengthening our relationships during this transition and in the future as well.  As someone who cares about our mission and ministry, I want to give the same assurance to you.  I know that by following God’s guidance and love we will emerge from this transition and pandemic stronger and more vibrant than before.

Thank you for your support and prayers.
