Contact: Pam Small, UCC/DOC Disaster Ministries’ Registrar (Oklahoma Response)
phone: c) 812-453-3995
Registration: Thanks to a tremendous response, the Mission Station is at or near capacity from mid-May through mid-August. Small groups may be accommodated in the summer; however, it is recommended that you contact Pam Small by phone or e-mail before registering for a summer date. Space for larger groups is still available in the spring and fall.
Registration is available here. After you register, the Registrar will confirm that housing is available for one of the weeks requested or, if housing is not available, attempt to work out a different week. Once your group’s housing is confirmed, you will receive a link to sign-up with a local missions partner who will be coordinating your group’s work in Oklahoma.
Work Needed: Long Term Disaster Recovery from May 2013 Tornadoes
Projects will be part of the community’s comprehensive recovery effort. The focus will be on home repair, rebuilding, and new construction, but may also include community renewal projects, such as the re-planting of trees, and other meaningful work in support of partner agencies whose services were impacted by the tornado. These projects will be identified locally by the local work partner.
Schedule: Week-long Mission Trips in 2014: Mission Groups will arrive on Sunday evenings and depart by Saturday morning. Work days are Monday – Friday. If the week that you are interested in serving is full, please consider another Mission destination with Disciples or the UCC.
Group Size: 20 total each week. Check with the Registrar with questions about availability or register for your top two preferred weeks. Registrations will be honored in the order they are received.
Minimum Age: 16 years. Those under the age of 18 have specific waivers requiring parent/guardian signature.
Adult to Youth Ratio: There must be at least 1 Adult for every 5 Youth (16 & 17 year olds) in your Mission Group.
Accommodations: Housing is provided by a pair of local congregations. Bring your own bedding; cots will be available or your may bring your own air mattress. Bathrooms, showers, and kitchen facilities including utensils and cookware are available on-site.
Cost: The total cost is $100/person per week. In most cases, you will send payment directly to the local missions partner with whom you are working. You will receive further instructions from them after your registration is confirmed.
Cancellations: Please keep Pam informed if your group size changes and especially if you need to cancel your trip. This is very important. Knowing the most precise numbers for each mission group will enable us to best schedule others to help the people of Oklahoma with their recovery
Please direct all questions to the UCC/DOC Oklahoma Registrar, Pam Small (contact information above).
