Sotello’s Inspiration and Thanks!

I am grateful for the privilege of connecting with our whole church on this platform of ministry as President of Disciples Home Missions. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Who am I thankful to? First of all to God for the Bible says:

For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.

But God is the judge: he puts down one, and sets up another. [Psalm 75:6-7 (KJV)]

God is the one who anoints and appoints those who are faithful with sufficient grace to prosper in what they are called to do. God was at work through the DHM search process. The DHM Board and my predecessor, Ron Degges, and the staff consummated the call. I thank God for the greatest job in the world…for me! I am humbled for the privilege to express and expand the gospel through the wide array of ministries that connect us in the US and Canada through DHM and our partners in ministry. By the way, the greatest job in the world for anyone, OK for you, is the job that God has called you to do. Having the job is one thing. Honoring God in and through it is another. It requires a listening heart, a teachable spirit, and exercising the anointing and leadership skills within you with fortitude and a heart of compassion.

I am also grateful for the recent ministry experience and relationships along the way that have prepared me. Thank you for First Christian Church, Aiken, SC; Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in South Carolina; College of Regional Ministers and Lexington Theological Seminary, Lexington, KY! You were and are integral in my growth in ministry. The relationships gained will always be cherished!

Finally, I am grateful to the love of my life. My darling wife and intimate partner in life’s journey, Dee! I’ve got the greatest wife in the world…for me! In certain circles they call me Mr. Dee and I love it!

Ministry is about relationships. I acknowledge God, my colleagues past and present and my family as the three-fold cord that makes ministry to and with others worthwhile! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
