Service at Assembly

The General Assembly Local Missions planning team has ensured that everyone who attends General Assembly will have an opportunity to serve. From blood drives to build projects and so much more, Disciples are invited to put their faith in action as we Abide in Des Moines. In fact, you don’t have to attend to contribute – see the blanket project and t-shirt project for more information. Don’t forget to pre-order you Disciples Volunteering/General Assembly tee shirt!

Because there are so many options for serving, there are multiple ways to sign up to serve. The blood drive, blanket & t-shirt bag projects, and the tiny house build have their own specific registration links (below); everything else is grouped together in a single form on this page, so that we can keep you updated with details as Assembly draws closer.

To read in more detail about any of the mission opportunities (if you haven’t already), please go to the General Assembly web-site. Keep this tab open and come back to it when you are ready to sign up for specific serving opportunities.

Blood Drive

July 22 & 23: Information and registration instructions can be found near the top of the Local Missions site.

Blanket Project & T-shirt Bags

Please click here to let us know of your support for the blanket project or t-shirt bags. In the final question on the form, please indicate whether you are able to bring any donations to General Assembly or if you will need help, so that we can make arrangements to receive your donation.

Joppa Tiny House Build

The tiny house build will take place inside the convention center. Sign-up blocks are for 2 hours at a time; you may sign up for more than 1 but please ensure you are present for the entirety of your time. We are also in need of servant leaders who can read blueprints and help coordinate the work in 4 hour blocks of time. Click here to sign up.
