Summer Internships

Disciples Home Missions places summer interns with Mission settings for leadership experience and exposure to the work of the larger church. In 2017, there are six placements available, with priority given to those who are members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Applicants must be aged 20 to 26 as of Memorial Day, and must be available without interruption from May 27 – August 11, 2017. The summer will begin with a week of training, and conclude by gathering again for a time of debriefing and evaluation. The early application deadline is now passed. Interviews are now being scheduled as completed applications (including references) are received, until positions are filled.

After you have completed the application below, you will need to send a link to the references form to three people who can serve as a reference for you. They must include: 1) your pastor; 2) a professor, school administrator, or advisor; and 3) a current or recent boss or employer. Please note that we cannot accept references from a family member: please use an appropriate substitute if necessary, and check with Deb Conrad if you have any questions.

The reference form can be found here: https://www.discipleshomemissions.org/mission-intern-reference-recommendation/. Applications are not considered complete until all references have been received.

References

Please give the name and contact number for 3 professionals who know you well. References must fit each of these three categories. Then, refer each of these to the reference link on the Disciples Volunteering Web site. It is your responsibility to send each reference this link and ask them to complete a reference on your behalf.

Self-Reflection

Please respond to each of the following using as much space as you need.
Choose one of the following and respond in a paragraph or two.

Self-Assessment

Rate yourself in these categories according to this scale: 1=outstanding; 2=good; 3=satisfactory; 4=fair; 5=poor; U=Unknown. Think about how you have actually responded in specific situations, not how you hope you might respond. If you have not experienced some of the given situations, enter the letter U for "Unknown." Be sure to add a comment to help us know what you're thinking in each category.
