DHM Among Faith-Based Organizations to Sign Interfaith Amicus Briefs

Disciples Home Missions is one of the signers of the interfaith amicus briefs Morrison & Foerster filed last week on behalf of faith-based organizations that oppose the “travel ban” Executive Order.  The Fourth Circuit brief addressing the “six country ban” and its impact on refugees was filed Wednesday, April 19th, and the Ninth Circuit brief addressing both the six-country ban and the refugee provisions was filed Thursday, April 20th.

The entire Fourth Circuit, sitting “en banc” (meaning all the judges, rather than a panel of three judges), will hold oral argument on the case on Monday, May 8, in Richmond, Virginia, beginning at 2:30 p.m.

The Ninth Circuit will hold oral argument the following week, Monday, May 15, in Seattle, Washington, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Disciples and United Church of Christ Holy Season Statement on Violence in the Middle East and Refugees

In the beginning of Holy Week, marking the entry of Jesus to Jerusalem, his suffering and his death, we watch with sadness and grief the tragic violence of the past several days throughout the Middle East. Our prayers, our solidarity, and our support are with the people of the region, as it remains a place of conflict in which innocent people become victims of senseless and horrible violence, and restrictions. Read the full statement.
