Stand With Refugees
Starting today, and every day this week, make a phone call to your Member of Congress to tell them that you want the United States to be a welcoming country for refugees. World Refugee Day is June 20 and it’s important we make our voices heard before then!
We’ve made it easy for you to join us:
- Call 1-844-4STAND5 (1-844-478-2635) to connect to your Members of Congress. Please call this number three times to connect to your two Senators and Representative. Tell them you want the U.S. to be a welcoming country for refugees & that you support a higher refugee admissions number and robust funding for refugee protections overseas and for refugees resettled here to the U.S.
- Ask your friends and your family to join in calling this week! Use #RefugeesWelcome #WRD2017
We hope you join the movement and get your friends to do the same!
Blessings to you!

CWS Statement on 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Ruling Against President Trump’s Rewritten Refugee Ban
“The courts have spoken yet again in favor of justice and humanity. As CWS has maintained since January, President Trump’s ill-advised travel ban should never have been put into place at all. Americans across the country stand firmly against this un-American executive order, which further jeopardizes refugees’ safety, alienates us from our global allies, and compromises American leadership at time of heightened instability.
“We renew our call on all of our elected officials to do everything in their power to denounce Trump’s Muslim and refugee ban and stand against any proposal that would dismantle refugee resettlement. Advocates nationwide will not back down until this takes place—nothing less will do.
“As we approach World Refugee Day and celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month this June, CWS continues to stand in unyielding solidarity with our immigrant and refugee brothers and sisters that make our country truly great.”
Since 1946, Church World Service has supported refugees, immigrants and other displaced individuals, in addition to providing sustainable relief and development solutions to communities that wrestle with hunger and poverty. Disciples and United Church of Christ Holy Season Statement on Violence in the Middle East and Refugees
In the beginning of Holy Week, marking the entry of Jesus to Jerusalem, his suffering and his death, we watch with sadness and grief the tragic violence of the past several days throughout the Middle East. Our prayers, our solidarity, and our support are with the people of the region, as it remains a place of conflict in which innocent people become victims of senseless and horrible violence, and restrictions.
