The word ‘’recover” means to regain, of to get or obtain that which was lost. To recover is also defined as to restore (like from sickness) or to revive.
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. . . .Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. (Psalms 51: 10, 12)
David asked the Lord to create a new heart within him; he wanted his entire being to be restored so he could serve the Lord acceptably. He wanted the joy of the Lord within him.
We all go thorough periods of times when we need to recover. We need to be renewed and restored; not just from sinful actions like David in Psalms 51, but we sometimes need our strength revived and sustained. We need to SELAH – pause and reflect; to be still and know that He is God.
Lord, restore to me the joy of your salvation; for the joy of the Lord is my strength and my stronghold.” AMEN.
