I know this makes you think of the traditional hymn, but it makes me think of the version of this song by Eddie James, “You’ve Been So Faithful” (2010). I loved this song, but I could never really get the gist of one part of the song.
“This I recall to my mind Therefore I have hope. It’s because of Your mercy that we are not consumed. Because thy compassions fail not. They are new every morning”
I would just sing it anyway. Not really knowing that it would take me ten years to understand what it really meant.
Living during this pandemic I wake up every morning with a greater sincerity to my prayer, “Thank you Lord for another day. Thank you for keeping me from all dangers seen and unseen.” This virus is an unseen danger. But, you know what Sisters? I have hope. Yep, I have hope because I know that God’s mercy has kept me from being consumed. Not only by the virus, but also by the grief, emotional stress, depression, and struggle that it has caused.
I wake every morning knowing that he has not failed me throughout my whole life. His compassions are brand new for me every day.
God is so faithful. Yes, He is. We just have to trust Him, believe Him and know He is with us, even in a pandemic.
Stay safe and be blessed.

Lamentations 3:21-23 NKJV
This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope.
Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
