“It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” (Deuteronomy 31:8)
Have you ever found just the right shade of lipstick or favorite perfume fragrance? I mean it is totally your jam! And then they discontinue it, and didn’t even check with you first! Seriously, if I like a product sure enough if will go away! It makes me have to ask the question… why are we so stuck in the same-same rut? Why are we so afraid of change? We cling to “traditions” no matter if we have only done them once. When we go to a specific fast food restaurant, we already know we are going to get a number seven. No thought. No possibility for a culinary adventure. We see this a lot in the church. We are so focused on maintaining the status quo… that we fail to get out of the box and create new worship experiences and opportunities for mission and growth! And any new members or visitors to our faith communities are expected to do what we are doing and assimilate; instead of bringing a new flavor, that is them to our faith life. For my home congregation we have just sold our building and are moving to a new community. What a great opportunity for a new faith adventure! We will be meeting new followers and they will enhance the flavor of our community. We won’t be able to say that this is the way we’ve always done it anymore… cause it will all be new. And this won’t need to be scary… because God is with us. Always. I think we tend to forget this and try to go it alone. We are not general managers of the universe. We are called to be Disciples. To spread the message and ministry of love. At times carried by God when our legs are weak and our hearts just are not in it. So let’s go forward boldly. Anointed with the favor of the Lord.
Blessings my sisters!
