Hello, my name is Sheila and I do not have a green thumb. I have no natural talent for growing plants. When plants discover they will be delivered to me, the other plants fold their leaves and shake their heads, they already know. Don’t judge me.
One day my friend, a green thumb, brought a plant and placed it on my table, completely ignoring my protests. She gave me instructions to water it whenever I remembered (obviously it didn’t need much water) and you know what happened….. to my surprise and the plant’s relief, it thrived.
It’s so very extraordinary how a plant can grow … even when tended by someone who doesn’t have a green thumb and didn’t think it could do so. It didn’t judge me. Gardeners demonstrate the principle of faith at its very best. For they continue to plant the seeds, even if they don’t see the harvest. The seeds they sow, are belief that the garden will grow.
It’s when someone sows encouragement deep into you, ignoring your protests, that the harvest will never grow through. But they encourage in faith, because they see the harvest in you and when it comes forth, the only one surprised is you.
I’m thankful for those who have sown into me, looking past my doubts, because they saw the potential there. It inspires me to sow encouragement into others, ignoring their protests, because I see their potential harvest that is extraordinary and rare. The blessing is that you don’t even need to have a green thumb.
Take a moment to sow life into someone’s garden …… just like Christ plants life within us.
