Celebrate Week of the Laity
This year’s Week of Laity will be celebrated January 14 – 20, 2024. Laity Sunday is a special time when the church pauses to consider lay leaders’ varied gifts for ministry to church and community.
Take some time to share the 2024 Week of Laity Resource “Care in Plain Sight” with your church, friends, and family. Rev. Dr. Milton Keys has given us beautiful reflections on how to be more intentional in our caring as Jesus cared, a call to action with partners is included, and an affirming litany is ready for your laity service!

INTRODUCTION: Disciples Women can come together during interregional gatherings to participate in collaborative learning, worship, and fellowship in enjoyable and innovative ways. To ensure a successful event, interregional groups can refer to the following guidelines as a helpful tool. These guidelines should be used in conjunction with the organizer’s expertise, institutional knowledge, and understanding of the audience’s needs. It is important to remember that there is no one correct way to hold an interregional Disciples Women’s event. Creativity, flexibility, and attentiveness to the group’s anticipated needs are key.

Energy audits are comprehensive reviews conducted by energy professionals and/or engineers that evaluate the actual performance of your property’s energy systems and equipment against their designed performance level or against the best available technologies. Audits alone don’t save energy; you need to implement the recommended improvements to reap benefits.
Money saved due to implementing auditor-recommended improvements may jusify the up-front cost of the audit. However, your budget may limit the types of audits that would make financial sense, because their recommended improvements that are not performed shortly after the audit can become outdated. If your congregation has limited property improvement funds, an audit targeting specific types of projects may be the most cost effective as it will recommend projects your congregation can implement in a short time frame with allotted project funds. This document will help you understand the types of audits and auditors and determine if an audit would benefit your congrega�on.
In 2021, Juneteenth became a federal holiday, but it means more than a day off work.
As Disciples, we are learners. Take advantage of Juneteenth resources for your congregation. Wisdom makes us stronger and more loving like our God.
Just as seasons change, our pace ought not be fixed. We can miss the vastness of God’s glory when living in a hurry.

The most important thing to do to implement faith-based climate solutions is to get started, and then get others involved. We need everyone, every day.
We can solve climate change, but we need public support to build the political will for collective action. Everyone can and needs to be part of solutions, including people of faith. Share your concerns and your ideas, focus on the benefits of solutions and the moral imperative to act.
We can all eat better, in a way that benefits our health and helps our climate at the same time. Focus on including more delicious and nutritious fruits and vegetables in your diet, today. Share your healthy habits with your neighbors, colleagues, and policymakers
1. Eat the rainbow → more fruits and vegetables.
2. Eat better protein.
3. Eat locally and seasonally whenever possible.
4. Cook and shop with your kids.
5. Eliminate food waste.
6. Bring your reusable bags for fruits and veggies in addition to your shopping bags.
7. Vote with your dollar.
8. Vote for candidates and policies

Vacation Bible Study Resource: Three Days, Three Ways
The Office of Christian Education has designed a three-day summer resource with Luis Gierbolini, Chesla Nickelson, Olivia Updegrove and Monique Crain Spells.
Taking inspiration from acclaimed book, The 1619 Project by Nikole Hannah-Jones, “Forward Toward Freedom” offers historical accounts of black experiences in America alongside biblical stories that help illustrate consideration of the following themes: freedom of culture, freedom of body, freedom of mind. Each day in the curriculum offers activities to support learning.
You may engage all the lessons or just one at a time over the summer. Download and share “Forward Toward Freedom!”

The key to hybrid faith formation is the integration of in-person faith forming with online faith forming into one holistic integrated experience. A program design can begin online and then move to in-person and back to online or it can begin in-person and continue online.
Hybrid programming can be synchronous (real time) and asynchronous (on your own time)—thereby expanding the opportunities for people to engage in faith-forming experiences that are responsive to their time, commitments, and availability. We can deliver synchronous faith formation using physical gatherings, livestreaming, video conferencing, online courses, and online small groups. We can deliver asynchronous faith formation using online playlists, video and audio programs, online discussion groups, online learning platforms, websites, and more.
