C.A.R.E. Sundays

Apr 30, 2025
C.A.R.E. is a Disciples Home Missions ministry that radiates the wholistic character of Jesus through art, recreation, and educational tools. In our design of church and community resources, we center the developing hearts and minds of children. C.A.R.E. Sundays is a 12-week curriculum that centers three Bible stories. As people started learning about Jesus, he became their leader, healer, friend, comforter, teacher, and defender.

C.A.R.E. Sundays is a 12-week curriculum that centers three Bible stories. As people started learning about Jesus, he became their leader, healer, friend, comforter, teacher, and defender.

  • Breakfast on the Beach
  • Walk on Water
  • Hole in the Roof

Each story has four lessons to engage children and their faith communities within and around the church. Enjoy these C.A.R.E. experiences as you engage creative ministry with children and families. For every day we are with all of creation, we are becoming like Jesus. The caterpillar, a precious example of becoming, rests at the bottom of each lesson to remind us why we learn together in church.

Our design team offers this ministry with joy and hope.

Responses like grief and sorrow, anxiety and fear, guilt and shame, anger, and despair are normal responses in unprecedented times. This course is designed to offer mutual support, healing, insight, and compassion, not a therapy experience. *Registration Fee = $20 *Scholarships available, Email Shardinnieri@gmail.com

Past participants expressed profound gratitude for being among people who could talk honestly about grief, suffering, and the ecological and social challenges of our time.

The movement of these 7-weeks together will include the following:

1. Introductions/Orientation

2. Sorrow/Grief

3. Anger

4. Fear/anxiety

5. Shame/Guilt

6. Despair/Hopelessness

7. Integration and wholeness

Weightlifters

Jan 2, 2025
This season in our churches, homes, and schools feels heavy, but our collective capacity to strengthen one another and our communities is great. We are an extension of our magnificent Creator--one who emboldens, loves, and heals us toward a world that is unlike empire. The Realm of God moves by the Spirit in all living things, cultivating justice and harmony one precious load of anointing at a time. It is imperative we lift up and carry the power of the Holy Spirit in refreshing ways. Our legions of lay leaders fortify the church for every season, especially those seasons that dare us to follow Jesus. “Weightlifters” provides you with enough development materials for monthly laity training over the next year. Let us lean into intentional conditioning and be well!

This curriculum brings together Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and faith formation to empower youth to engage deeply with their spirituality while developing the emotional and social skills they need for life’s transitions.

In today’s world, young people are looking for ways to express their faith in ways that are inclusive, compassionate, and just. This curriculum offers a space where everyone no matter their background, experiences, or perspectives can come to the table, be heard, and grow together in faith and love.

Inspired by Jesus’ example of welcoming all, this curriculum builds skills that help youth live out their faith with empathy, resilience, and a commitment to justice. Each lesson is an invitation to explore who they are, understand how they relate to others, and discern how they can make a difference in the world around them.

A Pattern for Christian Prayer

Prayer, according to this proven pattern, is the upward, open-handed reach of the loving heart toward God. When Jesus was asked, “teach us to pray,” by His disciples, He prayed with them. By His Holy Spirit, Jesus still teaches us to pray in the same way.

A Pattern for Christian Prayer

January 27, 2013 by Brian Frederick-Gray

Love motivates Christian prayer

It is the very core of communication with God. Four steps tested by hundreds of years of Christian experience in prayer provide us with a sure pattern whenever we take time out to pray. These steps are reading, medita- tion upon what is read, prayer, and com- munion with God, or contemplation.

Prayer, according to this proven pattern, is the upward, open-handed reach of the loving heart toward God. When Jesus was asked, “teach us to pray,” by His disciples, He prayed with them. By His Holy Spirit, Jesus still teaches us to pray in the same way.
