Resources for Children Worship & Wonder

FCM-CWWlogo.jpgWe understand that it is often difficult for children to make the transition to a church community's sanctuary worship after being in Children Worship & Wonder for several years. These resources are designed to help children with this transitional time.

    1. Sanctuary Worship Orientation for Adults and Children consists of a 2 hour workshop for parents and guardians, and a two hour workshop for children. The Workshop for Parents is designed to help them nurture young children as they come to the church community's sanctuary worship service. The Workshop for Children is designed to introduce children to sanctuary worship.  A Service of Welcome for Graduates of Children Worship & Wonder is designed to take place during the first Sunday that graduates of Children Worship & Wonder attend the church community's sanctuary worship. (You will find this service at the end of the document, Sanctuary Worship Orientation for Adults and Children.)

  1. Transitional Worship is designed to provide the setting and opportunity in which children can ask questions and explore the parts of sanctuary worship in an informal setting. It serves as a rite of passage, following "graduation" from Children Worship & Wonder, and prepares children for full participation in the church community's sanctuary worship. Transitional Worship takes place over a period of 3 – 4 weeks.

The main focus of Family and Children's Ministries is young children and their families. Children are the most vulnerable in any society. They are the only group of people who cannot advocate for themselves. If faith communities are working to meet the needs of children, inside their churches and beyond their doorsteps, all other priorities will fall into their rightful places.
