About Us

Welcome to a New Era of Faith and Connection!

At Disciples Home Mission Youth, we believe in a faith that breathes, grows, and transforms—just like you! We’re not your typical youth ministry. Here, we celebrate the dynamic, beautiful intersection of generations, cultures, and communities. We are a space where the bold voices of youth meet the wisdom of the elders, and where every conversation becomes a catalyst for change.

Who We Are:

We are the youth wing of Disciples Home Missions, a vital part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Our mission is to cultivate an intergenerational community committed to living out the radical love of Jesus Christ in today’s world.

Our Identity Statement:

“We are dreamers and doers, advocates and allies, seekers and sojourners—all journeying together toward a deeper understanding of God, self, and community.” – Managerrie Winston

Our Vision for Modern Faith Formation:

Today’s world calls for a new kind of faith formation, one that is vibrant, inclusive, and engaged with the realities of our time. Our vision is to create a space where faith is more than a Sunday morning ritual; it’s a dynamic, lived experience. It’s a journey of mindfulness, social justice, spiritual practice, and community action.

We believe that faith should be:

  • Intergenerational: Bringing together the wisdom of all ages to create a holistic faith journey.
  • Inclusive: Welcoming all identities, expressions, and experiences into a beloved community.
  • Advocacy-Oriented: Equipping young people to become powerful voices for justice, equity, and change.
  • Mindful and Reflective: Encouraging spiritual practices that ground us in God’s love and guide us toward compassion.
  • Courageously Engaged: Challenging the status quo, standing up for justice, and shining God’s light in every corner of the world.

How will we Equip Leaders to Empower Ministries:

We recognize that our mission extends beyond our own programs. That’s why we are dedicated to empowering youth pastors, lay leaders, and ministry teams to reimagine what youth ministry can look like today. Here’s how we support you:

  • Mindfulness and Spiritual Formation Activities: Explore creative ways to incorporate mindfulness practices, spiritual reflection, and contemplative exercises into your ministry. We provide templates for meditation sessions, prayer stations, and guided reflections that can be easily adapted for any group.
  • Curriculum and Resource Hub: Access a rich library of downloadable resources, lesson plans, curriculum guides, and digital content tailored for diverse learning styles and settings. Our materials are designed to foster deep authentic conversations, creative expression, and transformative action in your youth groups.
  • Leadership Development Workshops: Participate in our interactive workshops and webinars that focus on building essential skills for modern-day ministry. Topics range from intergenerational dialogue and mental health awareness to digital discipleship and community organizing.

Your Ministry, Our Mission:

We are here to walk alongside you, providing the tools, resources, and support you need to cultivate a faith community that is bold, brave, and beautifully diverse. Whether you are a seasoned youth pastor or a volunteer just starting out, our goal is to empower you to create spaces where young people can grow spiritually, serve passionately, and shine God’s light in the world.

Together we are Disciples, Together we will Graduate in life, Together We Are Home

This season in our churches, homes, and schools feels heavy, but our collective capacity to strengthen one another and our communities is great. We are an extension of our magnificent Creator--one who emboldens, loves, and heals us toward a world that is unlike empire. The Realm of God moves by the Spirit in all living things, cultivating justice and harmony one precious load of anointing at a time. It is imperative we lift up and carry the power of the Holy Spirit in refreshing ways. Our legions of lay leaders fortify the church for every season, especially those seasons that dare us to follow Jesus. “Weightlifters” provides you with enough development materials for monthly laity training over the next year. Let us lean into intentional conditioning and be well!

Social-Emotional Faith Formation: S.E.L.F Youth Curriculum

Topic: BIble Study, Prayer, Youth Ministry · Curriculum, Download, Online Course · Jan 2025
By: Rev. Managerrie Winston
This curriculum brings together Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and faith formation to empower youth to engage deeply with their spirituality while developing the emotional and social skills they need for life’s transitions. In today’s world, young people are looking for ways to express their faith in ways that are inclusive, compassionate, and just. This curriculum offers a space where everyone no matter their background, experiences, or perspectives can come to the table, be heard, and grow together in faith and love.
