The General Youth Council is made up of students and adults who are committed to youth ministry in their local congregations and regions. The purpose of the GYC is to give them opportunities to grow as future leaders of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). This is accomplished by having them in key planning roles for General Assembly and other International, National, Ecumenical, and Interfaith youth events. There may also be other opportunities as well for this group to grow in their leadership skills.
Disciples Home Missions is proud to welcome back the Rev. Trayce Stewart as the liaison to DHM for the General Youth Council. The Rev. Stewart will be providing the GYC with leadership and also help with the planning for General Assembly 2017 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Trayce is also guiding the GYC in planning for their upcoming Mid-Winter Retreat to be held over the Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend in January 2017.
Trayce Stewart is the new church pastor for Second Chance Christian Church in Columbus, Ohio. She has had the opportunity to serve the Christian Church in many ways including locally, regionally and nationally. In 2013 Trayce was the recipient of the Fred Craddock Award for Excellence in Preaching. In her free time she enjoys coaching track and field for the Worthington City School District and the summer team, Center City Champions, an outreach of Second Chance. Trayce is a fourth generation Disciple and graduate of Hiram College (BA) and Christian Theological Seminary (MDiv).
