Our theme, “Work It! Stewarding Legacy, Nurturing Leadership” is grounded in Nehemiah 2:17–20, where Nehemiah calls the people to rebuild Jerusalem’s broken walls and restore their community. United by faith, a shared purpose, and a vision, the people commit to the work despite threats and opposition, trusting God to guide their efforts. Nehemiah’s call reminds us that preserving our legacy and transforming our communities require faith, courageous leadership, collaboration, and collective action.
Join us as we remember, celebrate, understand, and preserve the rich legacy of African American churches and their historic role in transforming local communities through leadership, sacred spaces, ministries, community engagement, activism, and more. Together, we will explore how to honor that legacy, nurture the next generation of leaders, and discern new ways to make a meaningful impact in our communities today.
Nehemiah’s call to action speaks powerfully to our communities today. It is time to get to work, to collaborate, rebuild, and nurture like never before!
