The Disciples Women’s Ministries Young Women’s Initiative Scholarship provides four (4) scholarships to women who have graduated from high school and entering a community college, trade school or 4-year college or university in the fall semester. Scholarships will be awarded to 1 each of the following: Of African-American descent; of European descent; of Hispanic descent represented through Obra Hispana; and of descent represented through the North American Pacific/Asian Disciples (NAPAD).
Additional criteria are:
- Must be a member of a Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) congregation.
- Be enrolled in a community college, trade school or four-year college or university, with preference given to those seeking to attend a higher education institution related in covenant to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
- Provide a recommendation from her pastor or congregational board moderator/president.
Funds may be applied toward tuition, room and board, or other college-related expenses, such as books, laptops and other study materials.
