Welcome to Disciples Women’s Ministries

Disciples Women’s Ministries is a general ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of the United States and Canada that creates avenues for clergy and lay women to seek renewal and ministry opportunities by and for women worldwide. The Disciples Women’s Ministry is a collaborative effort between the Office of Disciples Women and the International Disciples Women’s Ministries (IDWM).

Since 1874, Disciples Women’s Ministries have worked to grow awareness of the need for women’s missions and ministry worldwide. We accomplish this through programming focused on justice, spiritual formation, and leadership development. These programmatic pillars are how Disciples Women’s Ministries works to help women develop a sense of personal responsibility for the mission of the Church in the world. Based on Micah 6:8, Disciples Women’s Ministries is a conduit for diverse connections, empowering each woman to find her voice and live out her call.

As part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Disciples Women’s Ministries welcomes all to the table as Christ has welcomed us. Ultimately, we are a network of women committed to the justice-seeking, compassion-focused mission of Jesus Christ with no membership requirements or conditions.

Office of Disciples Women’s Ministries

The Office of Disciples Women (ODW) consists of the Transitional Executive Director, Rev. Dr. Debra M. Reid, and Ministry Associate Regenia Smith.

Rev. Dr. Debra M. Reid engaged with the women’s ministry in 2014 because of a chance encounter with the Tennessee Disciples Women’s Ministry while helping a friend out. Since then, she has worked diligently as a volunteer to support programs to further the ministry for justice, leadership development, and spiritual formation of women. This exposure afforded her opportunities to serve on Tennessee’s Regional Board as Second Vice Moderator, Vice President of the Disciples Women’s Leadership Council (DWLC), 1^st VP National Convocation DWM, and IDWM Executive Committee. Dr. Reid found her passion and call with women’s work – work that benefits not only women but the entire church.

Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Disciples Women ministry is excited to announce recruitment for the Executive Director of the Office of Disciples Women.

The Executive Director of the Office of Disciples Women reports to the International Disciples Women’s Executive Committee (IDWM) and serves on the Council of General Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She provides general staff support for the Disciples Women’s Leadership Council (DWLC) gatherings and serves as the Disciples Women representative to other ecumenical and interfaith organizations.

This is an exciting opportunity for a woman who has a deep abiding personal faith and one who exhibits a passion for women’s ministries. If you are a woman who is a visionary and you have excellent communication and organizational management skills, we invite you to apply for this pivotal role in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Women are called for such a time as this. We are eagerly awaiting the woman who will lead us!

The Disciples Women's Endowment Fund (DWEF) was established in 1990 as the Women's Endowment Fund to provide the opportunity to contribute to a permanent fund that supports both present and future work of women in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). This fund allows both the donor and therecipient the experience of making a tremendous impact in the shaping of the world through the ministry work that is funded through DWEF. Through this fund, ministry work aimed at helping women is manifested as the love of Jesus Christ is spread throughout both congregations and communities. The funds are invested through the Christian Church Foundation to keep pace with inflation and produce a steady stream of income. Only the interest on the investments is used to support grant requests and priority is given to ministry that benefits the entire women's network.
