Reynolds Sakuma Brothers/Driscoll Stories Wendy’s

National Farm Worker Ministries

Please consider supporting farmworkers in two ways through our partners with National Farm Worker Ministries:

  1. Consider using and sharing the bulletin insert/flyer to promote a May 22nd “Day for Prayer and Action” to promote the Boycott Against Wendy’s in support of fair wages and treatment for tomato farmworkers.
  2. Consider using and praying the Litany provided, written by Julie Taylor, Executive Director of National Farm Worker Ministry and based on this Sunday’s lectionary text from John 14, that lifts up farmworkers and their contributions to each meal we eat.

Thanksgiving Resources

Who’s Behind the Platter?
This resource has some reminders about farm worker struggles, some action steps and information about the movie “Food Chains” which chronicles the fabulous work of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers in their efforts to bring justice to tomato pickers, and a set of photos and farm worker stories gathered from an event at the White House on November 19, 2014.  These farm workers flew to Washington D.C., from all around the country, and shared their stories about how they grow the food for our feasts!!  We’ve compiled their stories and photos as a part of the “Who’s Behind the Platter?” documents.

“Food Chains”

Food Chanin$In November 2014, “Food Chains” premiered in theaters across the country. Show your support for farm workers by organizing a group view the movie.

“In this exposé, an intrepid group of Florida farm workers battle to defeat the $4 trillion global supermarket industry through their ingenious Fair Food program, which partners with growers and retailers to improve working conditions for [tomato] farm laborers in the United States.”
