1) REFUGEE ARRIVALS TO THE U.S. IN THIS FISCAL YEAR HAVE BEEN STAGGERINGLY LOW! Please help us circulate the below faith leader & faith-based organization letters regarding the urgent need for the U.S. to demonstrate our commitment to refugee resettlement! This will be a powerful showing by people of faith to express our continued support for refugee protection.
We will mark the midway point in Fiscal Year 2018 on March 31. Please sign on to this faith leader and faith organization letter expressing concern for the low level of refugee arrivals and urging the administration to do all it can to resettle at least 45,000 refugees this year.
DEADLINE FOR SIGN ONS is end of day March 27. Click here:

2) PLEASE JOIN IN A NATIONAL CALL IN DAY FOR REFUGEES ON MARCH 28TH! As we approach the “half year” for refugee resettlement in this fiscal year on March 31st, join the “WhereRtheRefugees?” movement. Share your support for refugees, and help spread the news the U.S. has resettled less than 10,000 refugees (not even 20%) of our national 45,000 admissions goal for fiscal year 2018!
Already, this 45,000 annual goal is the LOWEST in our nation’s resettlement history, at a time when there are over 22 million refugees worldwide. Please urge Congress to hold the administration accountable to resettle more refugees this year, and find resources to share with your congregation, and with your legislators, here: bit.ly/WhereRtheRefugees!
3) ON APRIL 25th, THE SUPREME COURT WILL HOLD DISCUSSIONS ON THE MUSLIM BAN. Please hold these discussions in prayer, and stay tuned for more ways you can engage and support! Disciples expressed deep commitment to refugee resettlement and relationships, as well as resistance to a ban of refugees, in last summer’s General Assembly Refugee Emergency Resolution, http://ga.disciples.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Emergency-Resolution-GA-1739-Concerning-Executive-Order-13780.pdf. Please review and share this with your churches, as we approach these important discussions in the Supreme Court.
4) ALSO, PLAN NOW TO DEMONSTRATE YOUR REFUGEE SUPPORT BY PARTICIPATING ALSO IN THIS YEAR’S REFUGEE & IMMIGRANT WELCOME SUNDAY, ON SUNDAY, JUNE 17TH (near to World Refugee Day on June 20th.)
See last year’s resources here, and keep checking back for new ones soon to come: https://www.discipleshomemissions.org/missions-advocacy/refugee-immigration-ministries/refugee-immigrant-welcome-sunday/planning-resources-for-welcome-sunday/
