Rev. Debbie Griffin, Des Moines, IA #Pray4Refugees

September 26, 2018

“It’s my joy and blessing to be the pastor of Downtown Disciples in Des Moines, Iowa.  I wanted to tell you about two refugees I have been blessed to know in my neighborhood, and I want you to know how they have touched me and my faith community. They are both legal refugees from Africa. One is John, whose family is in grave danger. He has become an important part of our neighborhood….He is a leader, has completed his education, and helps (other) refugees get settled,…and learn to feel at home so they can give back.  The other refugee is Eugene.  He experienced the death of many of his family members (who were) not even safe in the refugee camp.  He has become a leader working with Lutheran Services in Iowa.  These two are helping other people, not only their family, but our neighbors.”  –Rev. Debbie Griffin, Downtown Disciples Church, Des Moines, Iowa
